This past weekend, i enjoyed a beautiful day exploring Ann Arbor!
Although i have visited this eclectic college town on numerous occasions, it seems there’s always something new to discover. Wandering around the University of Michigan campus, you’ll find new meets old world architecture.

Their Law Library has a Medieval style that’s eerily similar to Harry Potter’s Alma Mater, Hogwarts. UofM’s campus also features FREE admission to their wonderful Museum of Modern Art, where masterpieces by Delacroix and other greats are featured. There’s also plenty of art to explore on the streets and alley ways (see below).

The main reason behind this mini roadtrip was the start of Ann Arbor Restaurant Week! They are offering a 3 course lunch for $12 or a 3 course dinner for $25. A fantastic deal for a fabulous dining experience in Ann Arbor! The dilemma, which restaurant to choose?
I decided to dine at Mani Osteria, a tapas styled Italian restaurant with a great reputation for fine food, exquisite service, all housed in a quaint rustic setting. Upon entering, we were promptly greeted and seated at the cook’s table (a counter setup right along the kitchen), where we saw the precision & organization of each staff member (chef, line cook, waiter, etc) working in perfect harmony.

First Course (Appetizers):

Crispy Prok Belly (pictured at left) with a Apricot marmellata (aka marmalade) and oregano. A tad on the salty side, but perfectly cooked and the apricot & oregano complimented the pork beautifully…loved it!!!
Arancini, yes i tried these as well - it is a tapas bar after all - and they were spectacular! Nice and crispy texture, loved the light dusting of freshly grated parmesan, and the prosciutto & romesco filling was deeeeeelish!
Second Course (Main Entree):

Sausage & Peppers wood-fired pizza with smoked scamorza, pepperonata, and chile pesto. Light, airy, crispy dough (i could eat that crust all day) with a great harmony of flavors between the smokey cheese and spicy sausage. Very tasty!
Third Course (Dessert):

Chocolate & Pistachio Canoli, a perfect ending to our meal! The two little canolis were delicate with a nice crispy shell and a smooth mousse-like filling!
An overall fantastic meal!
